Greater Coastal Community Action Council (formerly, Galveston County Community Action Council) is pleased to announce the launch of Pre-K For All, an affordable child care and early childhood development program for families in our four county service delivery area. At the direction of TDHCA, GCCAC is bringing this highly acclaimed educational program to Galveston County at 4700 Broadway, Galveston, TX 77551. The over-arching plan is to launch in Galveston County, then to branch out quickly into Brazoria County (Freeport, TX), and on to Fort Bend and Wharton Counties, supplying this important program to families in need throughout our entire service community.
Pre-K For All is designed to offer child care and a quality preschool education regardless of a family’s ability to pay. On the surface, the program itself is already very affordable. Additionally, for families that qualify, at least a portion spanning up to all of the expense, can be covered by a combnation of the State and Frderally Funded Community Service Block Grant (CSBG), and other child care and educational subsidy programs, depending on the level of need.
Pre-K For All could not be launched at a better time. Parents who are now able to get back to work as COVID 19 pandemic related restrictions are being lifted, will be glad to have this high quality education and child care care option while they are on the job. It is also important to note that the program will be available this summer 2021, while previous programs provided by the local school districts will not.
According to Program Director, Gerald Richards,”Pre-K For All is not a daycare. We are preparing children to enter public school, which means they need to receive care, daily nutrition, and education, which includes an advanced Pre-K Curriculum.” Director Richards has launched and managed dozens of schools and Pre-K facilities, including attendances of up to 2,600 students. With four degrees in education, and very extensive experience, GCCAC is fortunate to have Mr Richards heading up this community education program that will serve children ages 3-5.
Pre- K For All will be starting classes in Galveston on May 17th 2021 and then on to Freeport, TX soon after. GCCAC encourages families to apply right away as student capacity is limited. You may apply online today at gccac.org/prek-registration.
